Class Descriptions

Creative Movement-  This class is designed for a 2-3 year old and a parent or grandparent, etc. It incorporates age appropriate creative movement and worship dance.  The dancer learns how to listen for a beat to a song, pray and express through movement to God, terminology related to ballet/dance, gross motor movements- balancing, front/back, up/down, slow/fast, etc.,  and dancing to worship songs! This class utilizes the Standards for Dance for Early Childhood from the National Dance Education Organization. Minds in Motion exercises are being integrated into this class starting in the summer 2015.

Pre-Ballet: Ballet terminology is taught in this class and the basic technique is introduced for ages 4-5 yrs. Fun learning through creative dance is still incorporated at this level to reinforce rhythm, counting, body control, levels of dancing and to strength motor skills.  Social development and class structure continues to be learned and reinforced.  Worship dance principles are incorporated through a short devotion or book and prayer at the start of each class.  Our recital or program is theme based and utilizes what everyone has learned over the course of the semester to speak about either an issue in society from God's perspective or display some characteristics about God to create discussion in our community.

Ballet, 6 and up: Ballet technique and terminology are taught to 7 yrs. and up using the Vaganova method. This class is designed to get a little more serious about the study of dance.  Ballet and jazz skills and terminology are taught and reinforced.   Prayer begins each class and a monthly memory verse is encouraged for all the dancers at the studio.  Our recital or program is theme based and utilizes what everyone has learned over the course of the semester to speak about either an issue in society from God's perspective or display some characteristics about God to create discussion in our community. These will take place at the end of the fall and spring semesters and all students are expected to participate unless otherwise discussed.  This class utilizes some of the Standards for Learning and Teaching Dance in the Arts: Ages 5-18 from the National Dance Education Organization.
